As part of the 95th Icelandic National League Convention, taking place in Winnipeg from May 15th through the 18th, 2014 núna (now) will present a performance by mezzo-soprano Christine Antenbring at the First Lutheran Church. With this performance, Christine Antenbring returns to her roots. She will be singing her favorite Icelandic songs to the accompaniment of pianist Mikhail Hallak. This will be similar to a program she recently presented in Reykjavík, Iceland at the new Icelandic Concert Hall, Harpa.
Christine performed at Weill Concert Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY March 28, 2013. Her program included Mozart, Dvorak, and Arbos. Christine was a surprise guest artist and opened the second half of the concert, introduced and accompanied by her husband, pianist Mikhail Hallak, performing one of Iceland’s most beloved songs, Draumalandið, by Sigfús Einarsson. Draumalandið’s magnificent vocal and piano drama brought audience members to their feet with Bravos and a curtain call.
Christine is the granddaughter of noted Winnipeg musician, the late Elma Gislason.
