Rachael Thorleifson

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Rachael Thorleifson is a multi-disciplinary visual artist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her practice often uses painting, sculpture, and installation as a means of exploring subjective understandings and emotions.

She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from the University of Manitoba in 2015. Rachael has exhibited in galleries, artist-run centers and alternative spaces throughout the city of Winnipeg and across Canada. Her most recent solo exhibition I dreamt [last night] my teeth were crumbling (Flux Gallery, Winnipeg) featured a collection of new paintings and text-based installations exploring love, death, religion, romance and heartbreak.

Rachael is currently working on a new project that will examine how the sacred quality of objects and places relate to death and her own familial identity. She is a co-founder and co-director of Blinkers Art and Project Space located on Hargrave Street in Downtown Winnipeg.

Rachael will be curating the collaborative video and residency between visiting Icelandic performers CYBER and local record house, Fourth Quarter Records during #walltowallwpg 2018!
