Gerður Kristný

Gerður Kristný (1970) is a poet and a writer. Born and raised in Reykjavík, Iceland she obtained a degree in French and Comparative literature from the University of Iceland. Her work encompasses a wide range of literary genres and forms, such as narrative non-fiction, novels, plays and children books. It is however poetry that has earned her the reputation as one of the leading voices of the vibrant Icelandic literature scene. She received the Icelandic Literature Awards 2010 for her cycle of poems, Blóðhófnir (Bloodhoof, Arc Publications 2012) and for the same book she was nominated for the prestigious Nordic Literature Awards. Her next published work in English is Murder Ballad (Drápa, Arc Publications).
