William Pura (b.1948) was born in Winnipeg Manitoba and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Manitoba followed by a Master’s Degree from Indiana University. A long time member of the artistic community of Manitoba his work has been performed at many Groundswell concerts as well as other venues. Recently he has begun working with Edmonton pianist Sylvia Shadick Taylor who recorded Labyrinth for her CD Expressions released in March 2013. She is presently involved with recording all of his major works for piano for an upcoming CD. In March 2011 Sylvia gave the US premiere performance his new work Nemesis at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
