Simon Hughes was born in Winnipeg in 1973. His art practice encompasses painting, drawing, film and video. He has received numerous grants from the Manitoba and Winnipeg Arts Councils as well as the Canada Council for the Arts, and his work is in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Winnipeg Art Gallery and numerous corporate and private collections. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Manitoba and a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of California, Irvine.
