Saga Sigurðardóttir

Saga Sigurdardottir made her professional dance education at the Icelandic Ballet School in Reykjavik, as a trainee with the Iceland Dance Company and then at ArtEZ Dansakademie in Arnhem, Netherlands where she graduated as Dance-Maker in 2006.

She has since collaborated, performed and toured with various artists and collectives in Europe, most prominently with choreographers/directors Anat Eisenberg (Berlin), Alexandra Bachzetsis (Switzerland) and Margrét Bjarnadóttir (Iceland).

Along with Magga Bjarnadóttir, Saga is one half of the Reykjavik based performance company saga&magga. Among their latest creations are “PRETTY BASSIC -a choreographed concert for two performers and two bass guitars” which premiered at the Reykjavik Dance Festival 09 in collaboration with composer Úlfur Hansson, and “Humanimal”, a first offspring of theater collective Me and My Friends (www.meandmyfriends.org). For their work in Humanimal, saga&magga were awarded the Icelandic Theater Awards as Choreographers of the Year 2009.

Saga has been a guest teacher at the Iceland Academy of the Arts (BA dance department), as well as the Iceland Ballet School.
