Laura Magnusson

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Laura Magnusson (b. 1985) is a Winnipeg-based multidisciplinary artist with a BFA Honours from the University of Manitoba (2010). Magnusson’s work often blends together architectural and organic elements to create precarious and psychological narratives, which investigate ideas of worth, loss, and memory. Upon graduation, Magnusson received the Manitoba Provincial Art Award from BMO Financial Group. In addition, she was chosen to produce and install a permanent public sculpture on the University of Manitoba campus, commissioned by the University of Manitoba. Most recently, Magnusson has been selected to be a core participant in the Foundation Mentorship Program of Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art, a recipient of Manitoba Arts Council’s Churchill Artists’ Residency, and the Featured Emerging Artist of Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art’s 2015 Annual Gala and Art Auction.
